  • Where do I start?
Many beginning to smoke cigars think it best to start with a sweet or flavored cigar. This presents a conundrum. Did you like smoking a cigar or having a sweet flavor in your mouth? A better approach is to start mild and not too big/long. This way you won't get bored sitting too long and you won't get overwhelmed by the cigar right away. If you like smoking the cigar but want a bit more body, we just move you to something with a bit more body. Talk to us, we'll help ya out!
  • What makes a good cigar?
A good cigar will be well made and easy to draw. It shouldn't fall apart or blow up on you, nor should you have to pull so hard your cheeks collapse. The simple answer is smoke whacha like!
  • How do you cut a cigar?
There's a lot of discussion around this topic. There's a punch (the least invasive method), the straight cut, and the V-cut (the most invasive method). Nick Perdomo has a wonderful video on this topic. Click here to watch. We sell our Bailey's Perfect Cut cutter - you'll never cut too much!
  • How do you light a cigar?
Another great topic! You don't have to use a torch lighter, but should never use an old style fuel lighter (Zippo, etc.). The fuel will end up tainting the taste of your cigar, butane will not. You don't have to put the cigar in the flame and don't point the torch directly at your cigar. This will burn the interior of the cigar before you even start to smoke. Slowly roll the cigar as you inhale. You should end up with a nice red end! The folks at Boveda have a good video on lighting cigars for tasting.
  • What's the best way to store my cigars?
In an airtight container out of direct light. Use Boveda packs for humidification. Here in South Louisiana we recommend 69% humidity. The optimum for cigars is considered to be 70/70 - 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 70% humidity. Your best bet is to monitor your cigars and adjust accordingly. Don't trust a hygrometer. They will always be just a bit off.
  • I just bought a humidor. Now what?
You need to season a humidor before using it for storing your cigars. This basically means humidifying the humidor. We recommend using Boveda packs. Simply put one 84% pack for every 25 cigars your humidor will hold. Leave the humidor closed for three weeks. Treat the humidor like a boiling pot of rice - not to be opened. At the end of three weeks, throw away the 84% packs, and put in your cigars with one 69% for every 25 cigars the humidor holds. You'll be good until those packs get hard.
  • What about pipes?
Pipes require a bit more work than cigars. If you like to sit and fiddle, a pipe is for you! Pipes really do provide an entirely different experience than cigars. We sell everything from corn cobs under $10 to Brigham pipes at $100. Part of the allure is the ability to easily create your own blend of tobaccos.
  • How do you pack a pipe?
You can really pack a pipe anyway that works for you. However, the most common approach is the three pack method. Your first pack is like kindling for a fire (loose), while the next two are tighter packs. Check this link. When you light the pipe, make sure you get that bottom pack lit and not just the top. Unlike cigars, never use a torch to light your pipe as this will scorch the outside of your pipe.
  • What is the best way to store my pipe tobacco?
Just like cigars, any airtight container will work fine. However, do not humidify your pipe tobacco. It will stay moist for extended periods of time and is easy to rehydrate. Mason jars are a popular method. You can use a permanent marker or label to write the name of each blend on the lids.
  • Do you sell vapes or CBD products?
We do not. We only sell premium tobacco products.
