Getting Started with Premium Cigars
Summer is over and school has begun. Fall is coming (believe it or not) and now is the time of the year to try new things. Many of you might be looking to try your first premium cigar. You might even have smoked premium cigars before but are wanting to get a bit more serious about your selections. You can find all sorts of advice on the internet or in magazines. Our blog posts cover a variety of premium cigars you might want to try. We suggest you skim through the over 200 we've created since opening in May 2020.
Any simple Google search will bring up a multitude of web sites and You Tube channels about cigars. While there are some good review sites and excellent channels from manufacturers, the best place to learn about cigars and pipes is Tobacconist University. This is the same site that certifies Retail Tobacconists. You can even become a Certified Consumer Tobacconist!
The book used to study for the Certified Retail Tobacconist exam has been updated and is now available in a nice hardbound edition. We have a copy of The Tobacconist Handbook on hand in the shop! Feel free to peruse our copy on your next visit or get your own copy. Also, Nick Perdomo offers videos that aren’t long but always offer insight.
What we'd really like is for you to stop by Bailey's and talk with us! Gary, Jaime, Nick, Richard, and Scott are all knowledgeable and willing to help you on your premium cigar journey! You don't have to spend much nor do you have to smoke what everyone else smokes! Let us help you decide what premium cigar to try next (or first).
When it comes to accessories all you need is a cutter and lighter. A torch lighter is preferred, but you really just need a flame. We sell a variety of torch lighters including a starter pack of triple flame torch with a can of fuel for $15. We also sell punches, straight cutters, and V-cutters all for under $5. We have more expensive options, but spend more after you get started!
Again, come on by for a visit. Spend some time asking questions and visiting. We are open 10-10 Monday-Saturday and Noon-8PM on Sundays. Every Saturday is our version of CBD - Cracklin, Boudin, and Donuts. That's a perfect time for your first visit!
