Premium Cigars for Memorial Day

The weather is turning warmer and, depending on where you live, school is over or almost over for the Summer. The holiday that has come to mark the beginning of Summer is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a National Holiday often associated with the start of summer, discount sales and cookouts with friends.

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. On Memorial Day we honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. While there are parades and barbecues, many observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials. Some people even wear a red poppy in remembrance of those fallen in war.

Both the History Channel and the USO offer much more about Memorial Day traditions and the history of the holiday. We encourage you to honor those who died while serving our country, and reflect on the many freedoms their efforts have helped to preserve. Bailey's Cigar Room is open regular hours on Memorial Day (10-10). We also offer a 10% discount to all members of the Armed Forces. We also want to make some suggestions for your Memorial Day cigar(s)!

Feel free to add your Memorial Day premium cigar suggestions below!

J.C. Newman

Hand rolled at the only working cigar factory in Ybor City (El Reloj), Trader Jack's cigars are perfect for the flavored cigar smoker. Each premium cigar is spiked with a bit of aromatic island spice before being packed away. Also worth note is the Brick House Double Connecticut. The Wrapper is true Connecticut Shade, while the Binder is Connecticut Boradleadf. The Filler is Nicaraguan.

Foundation Cigars

Charter Oak cigars are not what typically comes to mind when one hears "Foundation Cigars". The wrapper on each the Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Boradleaf, though, comes from the Connecticut River Valley. The Connecticut Shade has a Sumatran Binder and Nicaraguan Fillers. The Connecticut Broadleaf has Nicaraguan Binder, and Nicaraguan Filler.

CAO America

We couldn't end our set of Memorial Day premium cigar suggestions without a Barber Pole! A dual wrapper of Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro are utilized to create the barber pole effect. There's a Brazilian Binder surrounding Fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Italy, and America.
